I have a pix of R. Viltch along with Mrs J. Vanderohen and my great uncle Joe Kellis 746 Tank Bn taken in Mrs Vanderohen's workshop in Veriers, Belgium dated 30 Oct 1944 - last know pic we have of my great uncle KIA 11-27-44 at Frenzenberg Castle - hoping to find relatives of Viltch if they wish to get a copy of the pic - he appears to be an enlisted man like my great uncle.

Trying to find more information on the 746th's actions at Frenzerberg Castle on/or about 26-27 NOV 1944. My great uncle Joe Kellis was KIA 27-NOV-1944. I believe he was 2nd platoon, Co A. We are also trying to reconstruct the 746th actions earlier from Normandy thru the Huertgen Forest. There is conflicting information on his service record specifically with regard to action on or about Sept 2 1944 - some documentation indicates he received the Silver (or perhaps a Bronze) Star during this period of action. At one point, my grandmother (his sister) was in possession of the Purple Heart and a Star along with hard bound copy of the 8th's WWII History, but we have not been able to properly document any information on the Silver Star - perhaps we are mistaken about this. Unfortunately, his Purple Heart was stolen from my cousin's office some 15-20 years ago from its display case and remains missing.

Hello Mr Blanchard and everyone,
I m French from Normandy Sainte Mere Eglise
I read all the 100 post on this forum, I m concerned about the 746th because this unit participated actively during the fighting I the first hours of the invasion near Sainte Mere Eglise, this battalion was in support to the airborne divisions 101st and 82nd. I pretty sure some of your relatives cross by my farm in Normandy after DDay . The 746th is not enough commemorated in Normandy for theirs sacrifices and what they accomplished also it is in my minds to setup a kind of memorial next to my farm . I will be honored to be in touch with some of you who can give me more details about your relative and their life during the liberation of Europe.
Thanks to all of them for what they did to gain freedom.
All my best
Jp

My father Sgt. Robert Williams served in the medical detachment under Capt. Alex Hochman for the entire time the 746 was active. He thought very highly of him and always regretted not staying in touch after the war. I have a letter that Capt. Hochman wrote Dad after he was discharged saying he enjoyed serving with him. If any of Capt. Hochman's relatives or anyone who knew Dad reads this and wants to contact me, feel free.

My father was 1st Lt Frank Kogut, a tank commander for the 746th. He passed away in 2017 at age 102. We donated all his memorabilia to the WWII Museum in New Orleans. His experiences were the most important part of his life.

I have the group picture for Company C, several pictures and their dinner reception with the menu and names. If any one would like copies please message me, I'll be happy to share. My grandfather was a loader then Gunner, Coy Edwin Davis from Texas. He wrote several names on the back of the group picture, and pointing out that two Texas boys were behind him in the picture.
